Modos verbais do inglês

Assim como acontece no português, os tempos verbais no inglês são diversas variações do verbo que mudam de acordo com cada momento e ação expressada. Mas na língua inglesa há uma menor quantidade de tempos e algumas vezes o verbo permanece na sua forma original para as mais diferentes pessoas.

Os modos verbais podem são classificados em: Simple Present (Presente Simples), Present Continuous or Present Progressive (Presente Contínuo ou Progressivo), Simple Past (Passado Simples), Past Continuous or Past Progressive (Passado Contínuo ou Progressivo), Simple Future (Futuro Simples), Future Continuous or Progressive (Futuro Progressivo ou Contínuo), Present Perfect (Presente Perfeito), Past Perfect (Passado Perfeito) e Future Perfect (Futuro perfeito).

Simple Present (Presente Simples)

Indica uma ação que está acontecendo no momento.

Affirmative (Afirmativo)

-I work hard
-He works hard
-She works hard

Negative (Negativo)

-I do not (don’t) work hard
-He does not (doesn’t) work hard
-They don’t  work hard

Interrogative (Interrogativo)

-Do you work hard?
-Does she works hard?
-Do they work hard?

Present Continuous or Present Progressive (Presente Contínuo ou Progressivo)

Descreve algo que começou no passado, mas que continua até o presente momento da fala. Verbo auxilar “”to be no simple presente (presente simples) + o gerúndio (ing) do verbo principal.

Affirmative (Afirmativo)

-She is working there yet
-You are working there yet
-They are working there yet

Negative (Negativo)

-It is not working there yet
-You are not working there yet
-They is not working there yet

Interrogative (Interrogativo)

-Am I working there yet?
-Are you working there yet?
-Is she working there yet?

Past Continuous or Past Progressive (Passado Contínuo ou Progressivo)

Expressa ações que estavam acontecendo no passado. Verbo auxilar “to be” no simple past (passado simples) + o gerúndio (ing) do verbo principal.

Affirmative (Afirmativo)

-I was working hard
-It was working hard
-We were working hard
-They were working hard

Negative (Negativo)

-I was not working hard
-You were not working hard
-He was not working hard
-We were not working hard
-You were not working hard

Interrogative (Interrogativo)

-Were you working hard?
-Was he working hard?
-Were you working hard?

Simple Future (Futuro Simples)

Ações que ainda não aconteceram, mas que irão ocorrer no futuro. Will + o infinitivo do verbo principal sem “to”.

Affirmative (Afirmativo)

-He will work there
-We will work there
-They will work there

Negative (Negativo)

-I will not work there
-You will not work there
-She will not work there

Interrogative (Interrogativo)

-Will I work there?
-Will it work there?
-Will we work there?

Future Continuous or Progressive (Futuro Progressivo ou Contínuo)

Expressa uma ação que ainda não ocorreu, mas que já tem uma data certa para acontecer. Simple future do verbo to be (will be) + gerúndio (ing) do verbo principal:

Affirmative (Afirmativo)

-I will be working there tomorrow.
-You will be working there tomorrow.
-It will be working there tomorrow.

Negative (Negativo)

-I will be not working there tomorrow.
-He will be not working there tomorrow.
-It will be not working there tomorrow.

Interrogative (Interrogativo)

-Will I working there tomorrow?
-Will you working there tomorrow?
-Will you working there tomorrow?

Present perfect (Presente Perfeito)

Usado para expressar ações que aconteceram no passado e que continuam no presente ou algo que ocorreu no passado em um momento não específico ou ainda que aconteceu recentemente. have/has (no presente) + “past participle” do verbo principal.

Affirmative (Afirmativo)

-I have worked
-You have worked
-She has worked

Negative (Negativo)

-It has not worked
-We have not worked
-You have not worked

Interrogative (Interrogativo)

-Has it worked?
-Have we worked?
-Have they worked?

Past Perfect (Passado Perfeito)

Expressa atividades que já ocorreram antes de outras ações que também já aconteceram. Verbo auxiliar to have (had) conjugado no simple past (passado simples) + past participle (particípio passado) do verbo principal.

Affirmative (Afirmativo)

-He had worked
-We had worked
-You had worked

Negative (Negativo)

-I had not worked
-You had not worked
-They had not worked

Interrogative (Interrogativo)

-Had I worked?
-Had it worked?
-Had they worked?

Future perfect (Futuro perfeito)

Fala sobre situações que ainda serão terminadas no futuro. “Will have” conjugado no simple future (futuro simples) + o particípio do verbo principal:

Affirmative (Afirmativo)

-I will have worked
-We will have worked
-You will haveworked

Negative (Negativo)

-I will have not worked
-You will have not worked
-They will have not worked

Interrogative (Interrogativo)

-Will she have worked?
-Will they have worked?
-Will we have worked?
